IUST strengthens School-University Connect through Educational Exposure Visits

Awantipora, September 17 (KIP)- The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has intensified its school outreach initiatives under the aegis of the Dean Outreach, providing students from schools across three districts of Kashmir with meaningful exposure to higher education, scientific learning, innovation, emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.
As part of the Community Connect initiative, IUST recently hosted educational exposure visits by students from Government Higher Secondary School, Mahind, Anantnag; Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Akkad, Anantnag; Ayesha Ali Academy, Kanipora, Kulgam;
Shah-I-Hamadan Memorial Institute, Batapora, Shopian; Govt. Boys HSS, Humhama Budgam, Delhi Modern Public School, Pampore, and Bilaliya Educational Institure, Lal Bazar, Srinagar. The visits brought about 450 students and more than 50 faculty/staff members to the University
for interactive sessions, campus tours, practical demonstrations and engagement with faculty and university officials.
During the visits, the students were introduced to various components of IUST’s academic and innovation ecosystem, including the CIED-IUST Foundation, Department of Food Technology, Department of Computer Science, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Polytechnic College and Rumi Library, Language Lab, Rumi Library, besides the Athletic Track and specialised innovation and technology facilities.
The exposure included demonstrations and interactive sessions on 3D printing, 3D scanning, laser cutting, design and development, training and development, food processing, computer science, engineering, renewable and innovation technologies, entrepreneurship and laboratory-based learning. The students also gained exposure to laboratory practices, scientific learning environments, emerging technologies and future-ready skills.
The visits were designed to provide students with learning opportunities beyond the conventional classroom and help them understand the academic, technological and entrepreneurial opportunities available in higher education. The interactive engagements also encouraged students to explore innovation-driven career pathways and develop a better understanding of emerging fields and future-ready skills.
The visits were coordinated by Dr. Shaiqa Nasreen Coordinator community connect. Representatives of the visiting institutions appreciated the initiative and the opportunities provided to students to interact with the University’s academic and innovation ecosystem. They also emphasised the value of continued school–university engagement through practical demonstrations, interactive laboratory sessions and educational exposure programmes.
The initiative reflects IUST’s continued commitment to strengthening its engagement with schools and communities and creating meaningful avenues for young learners to experience higher education, scientific inquiry, innovation and skill-based learning. Through the Community
Connect vertical, the University aims to build sustained linkages with schools and facilitate informed academic and career aspirations among students.
