Srinagar, September 19 (KIP)-PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Friday led a protest in Srinagar over the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir, with hundreds of students and youth workers joining the demonstration.

The protesters raised concerns over the shrinking share of opportunities available to Open Merit aspirants and demanded transparency in the process of reviewing the existing reservation framework.

Iltija Mufti demanded that the report of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine and rationalise the reservation policy be made public without further delay.

She said students and job aspirants have a legitimate right to know what recommendations have been made on an issue that directly affects their educational and employment opportunities.

The protestors called for the report to be published in the public domain and for the government to address the concerns of Open Merit aspirants through a transparent and consultative process.
