Colonel, Commanding Officer 10 RR, inaugurates inter-district UT-level rifle shooting competition
Young Shooters showcase precision, focus and sporting excellence

Doda, September 27 (KIP)-The District Youth Services & Sports Department Doda on Sunday organised Inter-District UT-Level Boys & Girls (all age group) Rifle Shooting Competition (Open Sight) here at the Shooting Range, providing a prestigious platform to young shooters from different districts of Jammu & Kashmir to showcase precision, concentration, discipline and sporting talent.
The UT-level competition was organised as per the Activity Calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K. The competition was conducted under the direction of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K Anuradha Gupta and under the supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ashok Kumar.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Colonel, Commanding Officer 10 Rashtriya Rifles as the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the competition in the presence of DYSSO, participating shooters, coaches, managers, technical officials and officials of the Youth Services & Sports Department.
Addressing the participants and students, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services & Sports Department in providing young athletes with opportunities to participate in competitive sports events at the UT level. He encouraged the shooters to remain focused, disciplined and dedicated towards their sporting goals, highlighting the importance of concentration, patience, precision and sportsmanship in rifle shooting.
He further urged the youth to stay away from drugs, substance abuse and anti-social activities, stressing that participation in sports plays an important role in building discipline, character and physical fitness while guiding young people towards a positive and productive future. He also encouraged the participants to pursue sports with dedication, noting that sporting activities can provide meaningful opportunities for personal growth and career development.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 40 young shooters representing different districts of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Participants competed in All Age Group Boys and Girls categories in Open Sight Rifle Shooting, demonstrating commendable levels of focus, control, accuracy and competitive spirit.
The organising team of the District Youth Services & Sports department made comprehensive arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the competition, ensuring necessary facilities for participating athletes, coaches, managers and technical officials.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by DYSSO Ashok Kumar, who expressed appreciation to the participating teams, officials and all stakeholders for their cooperation and support in the successful conduct of the UT-level competition.
