Hindi Pakhwada concludes at NIT Srinagar, top performers felicitated

Srinagar, October 07(KIP)- The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday concluded its Hindi Pakhwada celebrations with a valedictory ceremony and felicitation of winners and participants who excelled in various competitions and Hindi language examinations.

Organised by the Rajbhasha Cell, the programme featured competitions, awareness activities and training sessions aimed at encouraging the use of Hindi in official communication and strengthening its presence in the institute’s administrative functioning.

The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Anurag Misra, while noted multilingual writer and broadcaster Dr. Satish Vimal attended as the Guest of Honour.

The programme was attended by Dean P&D Dr. Yaswant Mehta, In-charge Hindi Officer Dr. R.P. Shukla, AR (Rajbhasha) and Hindi Teaching & Training Supervisor Mohammad Iqbal Dar, AR Accounts Shahid Hamid, Hindi Anuvadak Dr. Sabzar Gani Batoo, faculty coordinators of the Rajbhasha Cell and ministerial staff from various departments.

Addressing the gathering, Director NIT Prof. Anurag Misra appreciated the Rajbhasha Cell for organising the programme and involving faculty and staff in activities aimed at promoting the official language.

He said sustained efforts towards Rajbhasha would help strengthen official communication and improve coordination across academic and administrative units.

“The consistent efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell reflect our commitment to promoting Rajbhasha as an effective medium of official communication. Such initiatives not only preserve our linguistic identity but also foster inclusivity and better coordination within academic and administrative systems,” he said.

Dr. Satish Vimal appreciated the Rajbhasha Cell for successfully conducting the Hindi Pakhwada and highlighted the importance of language in preserving cultural heritage and strengthening social bonds.

He said Kashmir has historically been a confluence of diverse languages and traditions, with Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Kashmiri contributing to the region’s rich linguistic heritage.

Dr. R.P. Shukla said the programme reflected the collective efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell, faculty members, staff and coordinators.

“The Rajbhasha Cell has been working continuously to strengthen the presence of Hindi in the institute’s official functioning. The enthusiastic participation of faculty and staff throughout Hindi Pakhwada reflects our shared commitment towards this objective,” he said.

During the felicitation ceremony, dignitaries presented certificates and mementoes to winners and participants of various competitions and to successful candidates of the Parangat and Praveen examinations.

In the Parangat Examination, Towheed Hussain, M. Abrar Khan and Raveesa Akhtar secured the top three positions.

In the Praveen Examination conducted under the Hindi Teaching Scheme, New Delhi, Faisal Irshad Ganai (DR Administration) secured the first position, AR Accounts Shahid Hamid secured 2nd and Adil Rasool Bhat, secured the 3rd position.

In the Administrative Vocabulary Competition, Ranjeet Prayapati, M. Abrar Khan and Towheed Hussain secured first, second and third positions, respectively.

In the Essay Writing Competition, Towheed Hussain secured first position, Ajay Kumar second and Shaziah Shafi third. Similarly, in Noting and Drafting Competition, Zaisir Farooq secured first position, Towheed Hussain second, and Basarat Bashir secured third position.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pramod Kumar Yadav, who expressed gratitude to the Director, Guest of Honour, faculty members, coordinators and participants for their support in making the Hindi Pakhwada celebrations successful.
