Sachdeva Netralaya, CGPWA celebrate World Sight Day

Jammu, October 08 (KIP)-The Sachdeva Netralaya, Gandhinagar and the Central Govt Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) jointly celebrated World Sight Day today.
The World Sight Day is celebrated annually on the second Thursday of October. This year’s theme was "Love Your Eyes”. It is a global event with an objective to draw attention of the people to blindness and vision impairment. It was originally initiated by the Sight First Campaign of lion Club International Foundation in 2000. It has since been integrated into VISION 2020 and is coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness in cooperation with the WHO.
CGHS empanelled Sachdeva Netralaya organised with awareness lecture by Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, head of the Hospital. He apprised the well-attended gathering about the eye diseases which lead to vision impairment and blindness. He stressed the need for proper eye care and regular check-up from qualified doctors especially by senior citizens. He also spoke about preventive measure for healthy eyes.
The coordinating staff of the hospital also shared valuable information and practical tips on maintaining healthy eyesight and preventing common eye-related problems. They presented a skit, full of light humour, about eye care which was icing on the cake.
A good number of pensioners and local patients were present who were benefited from the informative session. They were educated about various measures for maintaining good eye health and the importance of timely eye check-ups.
Members of CGPWA who participated in the programme in a large number availed free eye check-up. The programme was informative and meaningful initiative aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of healthy eyesight and preventive eye care.
Dr. Abhishek Sachdeva presented a formal vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the hospital team, CGPWA members, patients, and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
